Sitting behind the start line at the '96 Nationals a group witnessed Peter Russo's 5.39 at 281mph to rapturous applause - for 10 minutes! Thought, "How cool was that?!" and saw the bracket needing some more consistent cars. On the flight home Rod wondered what was possible. Ashley commented on the insanity of the idea... until asked if he wanted to drive.

The original car was bought during the Feb 1997 Nationals. This made Rod and Ashley the youngest nitro funny car / dragster owners in Australia. (They were 24 and 23 at the time.)

The new car was bought in 2005, after the Greene Machine, only other working nitro funny car in the country, was put out of action for some time. It hit the wall four times in Perth while racing the Bailey car.

Ricky Monserrat and Tectaloy came on board with the connections and the available funds to allow both cars to campaign.

The first paired run of Bailey cars happened in Sydney, Oct 2005. Three more meetings were in the works at the time.
